In Israel, we welcome the announcement by the United Arab Emirates that the Holocaust will henceforth be included in school curricula in that country.

This will concern, it is indicated, primary and secondary school students.

The educational content will be developed in collaboration with Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem.

“

One of the great obstacles in his contacts and in his dialogues with the Arab world is anti-Semitism, it is the incomprehension of the past.

This decision by the Emirates will make up for these shortcomings and will allow for better dialogue, so it is a completely historic and very important decision

,” said Emmanuel Nachshon, spokesperson for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Last year, a Holocaust museum, the only one in the Arab world, had already opened its doors in Dubai.

On several occasions, Israeli Holocaust survivors intervened on the spot, in particular with young Emirati students.

This new initiative comes a little over two years after the signing of the Abraham Accords which allowed

the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries

, in particular the United Arab Emirates.
