China News Agency, Beijing, January 6 (Reporter Pang Wuji) Xie Zhenhua, China's special envoy for climate change affairs, said at the 19th China Reform Forum on the 6th that China has achieved "overtaking on a curve" in the field of renewable energy. The total installed capacity has accounted for more than 34% of the world.

On the same day, the 19th China Reform Forum was held in Beijing under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, hosted by the China Economic System Reform Research Association, and co-organized by the China Economic Reform Research Foundation.

Xie Zhenhua said here that innovation in global green and low-carbon transformation has become an irreversible trend.

Xie Zhenhua believes that the world is ushering in a new round of industrial revolution and technological change characterized by green and low carbon.

In the past, it was generally believed that "whoever reduces emissions will suffer", but now countries realize that "whoever transforms quickly will gain the first opportunity for industrial development, seize the high ground of competition, and occupy the moral high ground."

Now low-carbon transformation and innovation has become a competitive high ground for economic and social development.

Xie Zhenhua said that there are two major priorities, one is renewable energy, and the other is new energy vehicles.

He said that in terms of renewable energy, China has achieved "overtaking on a curve".

China's installed capacity of renewable energy power generation accounts for more than 34% of the world's total. Among them, the output of wind turbine components and complete machines has accounted for more than 50% of the global market share, and the photovoltaic industry supplies more than 70% of the components for the global market.

In addition, China's new energy vehicle ownership has accounted for about 50% of the world, and China's carbon sinks and artificial forestation area have "double-growth" for 30 consecutive years.

China already has certain competitive advantages in the fields of renewable energy, new energy vehicles, energy conservation, and carbon sequestration, and should be further expanded and strengthened.

Xie Zhenhua said that carbon peak carbon neutrality is an important opportunity to promote transformation and innovation in various fields.

In order to achieve the dual carbon goals, China has established a "1+N" policy system.

The next step is to accelerate transformation and innovation in all areas involved in the "1+N" policy system.

According to the calculations of relevant research institutes, China's realization of the dual-carbon target will drive investment of more than 130 trillion yuan, equivalent to 2%-3% of annual GDP, and will help solve environmental pollution and energy security issues from the source.
