The confinements and restrictions linked to the Covid-19 epidemic had seriously slowed down tourist activity in the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco, with a drop in the number of stays in 2021 (8 million visitors) but especially in 2020 ( 6.5 million).

The crisis now seems to be over: the Côte d'Azur Regional Tourism Committee (CRT) announces this Friday that 2022 has "well and truly marked a return to normal".

Over the past year, "attendance is estimated at more than 10 million stays, leisure or business", approaching 2019, "record reference year" with 11 million visitors, explains the organism.

Even less numerous (48%), international visitors are in any case those who brought the most to the local economy, with 56% of income.

In 2022, further notes the CRT, "the markets that have rebounded most strongly are Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Middle East".

On the other hand, Japan, China and Russia logically have "the worst recovery rate" compared to 2019.
