It turned out that the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food products for the 11 months from January to November last year has already exceeded the annual export value of the year before, which was the highest ever.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food from January to November last year increased by 15.4% compared to the same period of the previous year to 1.2433 trillion yen.

The amount of exports in 2018 was a record high of 1.2382 trillion yen, but the record up to November has broken this figure.

The reason for the increase in export value is that the rapid depreciation of the yen last year made Japanese agricultural products more affordable, and demand for eating out in Europe, the United States and China recovered.

By item, the increase in marine products was conspicuous, with sales of

scallops increasing by 46.9% from the same period last year to 84.8 billion yen;

yellowtails increasing by 39.2% to 31.8 billion yen ; and

pearls increasing by 38.5% to 215. Billions of yen, etc.

Exports of alcoholic beverages also expanded, with sales

of whiskey increasing by 21.3% to 52.4 billion yen and

sake exports increasing by 21.3% to 43.4 billion yen.

The government has set a target of increasing the export value to 2 trillion yen in 2025, two years from now, and will support the efforts of producers and distributors to achieve this ahead of schedule.
