Chihiro Kanekawa, known as the famous manager who raised the major chemical manufacturer Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. into a global company, died of pneumonia on the 1st of this month.

After working for what is now Mitsui & Co., Mr. Kanagawa joined Shin-Etsu Chemical in 1962. After serving as president for 20 years from 1990, he served as chairman from 2010.



In addition to expanding into the United States and developing it into a global company of vinyl chloride resin used in various products such as building materials, he also promoted selection and concentration of businesses to acquire a large global market share in the semiconductor material silicon wafer business. He was known as a famous manager.



Kanagawa passed away due to pneumonia on the 1st of this month.
