In the gas crisis, the Federal Network Agency gives the all-clear.

As can be seen from the authority's management report published on Thursday, from their point of view a gas shortage this winter is becoming "increasingly unlikely".

Overall, the situation is "less tense than at the beginning of winter".

The authority had previously spoken of a tense situation since mid-June - at that time the throttling of Russian gas supplies had caused a more negative assessment.

Thanks to strong imports and savings in energy consumption, the worry lines have now smoothed somewhat.

The authority warned, however, that a deterioration cannot be ruled out.

Economical gas consumption remains important.

In the event of a gas shortage, industry and other parts of the economy would no longer get as much gas as they want, but only what the state allotted them - companies would then have to cut back their production.

There has never been a situation like this in the history of the Federal Republic.

According to the Federal Network Agency, gas consumption last week was 30 percent below the average consumption of the past four years.

The high temperatures also contributed to this: compared to previous years, it was an average of 3.8 degrees Celsius warmer.

But even when adjusted for temperature, consumption in the 51st and 52nd calendar week was 20.4 percent below the reference value for the past four years.

According to the information, the gas storage facilities in Germany are 90.72 percent full.
