Emmanuel Kessler, director of economic writing at Prisma Media, was the guest of Europe 1 this Thursday and listed the interesting savings investments for 2023. Advice to be found in an issue of the magazine "Capital" which publishes a dedicated supplement to the question, of which Europe 1 is a partner.

600 billion euros.

According to Emmanuel Kessler, director of economic writing at Prisma Media, it would be the money that the French keep in their bank accounts, failing to invest it.

This is why the magazine

Capital

publishes in January a supplement – of which Europe 1 is a partner – entirely devoted to the question, where we find advice on how to save your money well.

At the microphone of Yohann Tritz this Thursday, Emmanuel Kessler summarizes it.

If many French people are struggling to make ends meet and therefore do not have the leisure to invest their money, all those who are able to do so should consider this possibility, according to the journalist.

"It is better to invest your money, if only in what are called regulated savings accounts, such as the Livret A. Because of course, you will lose a little compared to inflation, but it will still moderately protect. And better and better since the rate of the Livret A should go a little over 3% in about a week, "he recalls.

The booklet A, the safe bet

Emmanuel Kessler then lists the options to be favoured.

"There is what is called precautionary savings. The French are very attached to it and therefore, from this point of view, the booklets are a way of not having your money nibbled too much", explains the specialist.

The booklet A, mostly acclaimed by the French, remains a safe bet.

"You can still put 21,900 euros in it, exempt from all taxes and social security contributions", underlines Emmanuel Kessler.

An investment that can also be accompanied by another savings account.

"This is the sustainable and solidarity development booklet, the LDDS. You can put up to 12,000 euros in it, so that too is interesting".

Especially since this inflationary context goes hand in hand with a rise in interest rates on these investments.

The return to favor of life insurance

And for the French, who are more in favor of long-term investments, there are also alternatives to consider.

"There is a product that is coming back a little, which had not been neglected, but which was less attractive, which is life insurance".

Emmanuel Kessler emphasizes the multiple benefits offered by this investment.

"It's a savings that often prepares for retirement. And which also allows you to pass on your money in good conditions. After eight years, it's tax-exempt and life insurance is exempt from inheritance tax on an amount which is nevertheless very significant".

Finally, real estate is a highly relevant investment, according to Emmanuel Kessler, provided you have the capacity and carefully study the location.

"And then, don't forget that even if you pay 3% interest to your bank today, it's still half inflation. So yes, real estate investment is still very profitable “, assures the specialist.

In 2023, the French will therefore be spoiled for choice.
