More than 100 days after the death in custody of the young Iranian Mahsa Amini, arrested by the vice police for improper wearing of the veil, the Iranian police have launched a new campaign to monitor the hijab of women.

Since the end of September, several hundred people have been killed during the demonstrations and thousands of people have been arrested.

According to a police official, quoted by the Fars news agency, this new campaign is called Nazer-1 which means “surveillance in Persian”.

If a woman driving or a passenger does not wear the veil, the owner receives a message asking that the hijab be respected and not to repeat this act.

For the moment, the police are content to send a simple SMS without punitive measures or fines.

But several MPs have claimed in recent weeks that fines to be decided against offenders.

In the past, the car was immobilized for a few weeks.

Young women without veils

After the protests following

the death of Mahsa Amini

, the authorities announced in early December the

disappearance of the morality police

who arrested poorly veiled women and girls in the street.

In recent weeks, we have indeed seen more and more young girls or women not wearing the veil and walking in the street without the police intervening.

But several conservative clerics have called for police action to enforce the veil.
