Gasoline The price of gasoline at domestic gas stations rose slightly from yesterday as the extent of the reduction in gasoline tax was reduced from today (the 1st).

According to Opinet, the Korea National Oil Corporation's oil price information service, the average gasoline price nationwide as of 10 am today was 1,537.99 won per liter, up 7.29 won from yesterday.

Previously, domestic gasoline sales prices fell for 16 consecutive weeks until last week due to falling international oil prices.

The government decided to extend the oil tax cut, which was originally scheduled until the end of last year, for four months until the end of April this year, with different tax rates for each type of oil during this period.

From today, the reduction in oil tax when purchasing gasoline has been reduced from 37% to 25%, and the gasoline tax has risen by 99 won from the current 516 won per liter to 615 won.

However, this is 205 won lower than the elastic tax rate of 820 won per liter before the oil tax cut.

The government said, "Considering the fact that domestic gasoline prices are showing a stable trend compared to other types of oil, including diesel, we have partially reduced the amount of oil tax cuts."

The government maintained the previous 37% reduction in oil tax, the largest ever, for diesel, which is still expensive.

As a result, the national average diesel price was 1,721.22 won per liter, down 0.54 won from yesterday, continuing the recent decline.

Diesel prices fell for six weeks in a row until last week.

The timing of the reduction in fuel tax may vary by gas station depending on inventory depletion.
