• The most expensive Christmas dinner Hake, grapes and whiskey lead the rises

The barnacles of O Roncudo, in the province of A Coruña, go out to the cliffs to capture these crustaceans that become the

star dish

of Christmas.

This activity is extremely complex, since the barnacles have to wait for

favorable weather

to jump onto the rocks of the cliffs.

There, they have to dodge the waves and hold on to the rocks while they are captured.

This winter, a storm has meant that the barnacles have not been able to go out to fish and

have had to work on vacation.

This explains why, later in the markets, their prices reach up to

200 euros per kilo

.

A fairly high price for these Galician barnacles, considered the best in the world.
