  Our reporter Yang Zhaokui

The number of resumes submitted by blue-collar workers in the manufacturing industry is more than three times that of the service industry. The labor-intensive manufacturing industry has always been the main force for blue-collar employment; the job seekers mainly come from provinces with large populations, concentrated labor and population outflow provinces, and the provinces willing to work are mainly in the east. Regions and coastal provinces with large employment; affected by the development of digital technology, the proportion of short video recruitment has increased by 12.4%, live broadcast recruitment has become a new way for blue-collar recruitment; the new generation of blue-collar groups are more inclined to choose stable, high security, and good future development jobs for...

This is what the reporter learned from the "China Blue-collar Group Employment Research Report (2022)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") released on December 27 by the China New Employment Form Research Center.

The blue-collar group is undergoing an intergenerational transition, and the average monthly income is between 5,000 yuan and 8,000 yuan

As a major component of my country's job market, blue-collar workers refer to industrial workers in the secondary and tertiary industries.

The "Report" shows that, from the perspective of scale and structure, the number of blue-collar workers in my country will reach more than 400 million in 2021, accounting for 69.4% of the employed population in the secondary and tertiary industries, and accounting for more than 53% of the 747 million employed population in my country.

Survey data show that blue-collar groups are mainly concentrated in the secondary industry.

Blue-collar workers over the age of 40 account for nearly 50%, and their average age exceeds the average age of my country's working-age population.

In terms of employment quality, the average monthly income of most blue-collar workers is between 5,000 yuan and 8,000 yuan, and more than 60% of blue-collar workers have received training that focuses on on-the-job practice/practice.

According to the "Report", my country's blue-collar groups are currently undergoing intergenerational transformation. The first generation of blue-collar workers who entered labor-intensive enterprises after the reform and opening up began to gradually withdraw from the labor market, and the new generation of blue-collar groups born after the 1990s "take over" Become the main force in the blue-collar labor market.

Zhang Chenggang, director of the China New Employment Form Research Center and associate professor of the School of Labor Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business, pointed out that the employment motivation of the new generation of blue-collar groups has changed from seeking survival in the past to seeking development. For factory positions, the new generation of blue-collar workers are more inclined to choose positions with strong stability, high safety and good future development.

Short video job hunting has increased by 12.4%, live broadcast recruitment has become a new way of job hunting

The "Report" believes that the development of digital technology in recent years has brought new opportunities for blue-collar workers to find jobs. On the one hand, the digital economy has spawned "new blue-collar" workers such as online order delivery personnel and logistics couriers, who contribute to the daily operation of the city On the other hand, websites, social media and short video platforms make information dissemination no longer restricted by regions and channels. Blue-collar job seekers can obtain and compare different job information online and make the best choice according to their own needs.

While the demand for employment is more diverse, the job-seeking channels of blue-collar groups are also changing.

The "Report" shows that "recommendation by acquaintances" and "short video/live broadcast platform" are currently the most important job hunting methods for blue-collar workers. %, while the proportion of job-seeking methods such as "recommended by acquaintances", "direct recruitment by enterprises", and "recruitment by labor intermediaries" has declined.

The "Report" pointed out that the fast, accurate, and real new features of live-streaming recruitment have enabled the blue-collar labor market to form a new ecosystem around the live-streaming recruitment model. The division of labor and cooperation between various subjects has not only promoted the digital transformation of blue-collar human resource management, It also promotes the combination of the traditional blue-collar recruitment model and the short video platform recruitment model.

Take Kuaishou as an example. At present, Kuaishou’s “Kuaipin” business has attracted 250 million blue-collar workers to participate in a month in 2022, and more than 100,000 companies have provided recruitment positions.

Voluntary work provinces and cities are concentrated in Jiangsu, Beijing and other places, accounting for nearly 50% of the blue-collar employment across provinces and cities

From the perspective of industry distribution, the number of resumes submitted by blue-collar workers in the manufacturing industry is more than three times that of the service industry, and the labor-intensive manufacturing industry has always been the main force for blue-collar employment.

The "Report" shows that the proportion of blue-collar workers in service industries such as "catering" and "leisure and entertainment" who have been employed for "2 years or more" is significantly lower than that of manufacturing workers, and the proportion of "1-3 months" is significantly higher than that of manufacturing workers .

Compared with blue-collar workers in the tertiary industry, blue-collar workers in the manufacturing industry have been employed in the current enterprise longer.

In terms of migrant employment, blue-collar workers in Yunnan Province, Gansu Province, Guizhou Province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang Province, Henan Province, Shandong Province and Hebei Province are more willing to migrate to other provinces for employment, accounting for 70% of the total number of blue-collar workers employed across provinces. become.

Zhang Chenggang said that meeting the actual needs is the main factor for the flow of blue-collar workers.

With the development of the times, the needs of blue-collar workers are not limited to income.

By analyzing the needs of blue-collar job seekers in the short video comment area and the interactive area of the live broadcast room, it can be seen that blue-collar job seekers have more needs in terms of work and life quality, social interaction, respect, and self-realization. The mining of these needs , it will help to further enhance the society's understanding of blue-collar workers.
