The year 2022 will have been particularly beneficial for the SNCF.

According to information from the "Parisien", confirmed by Europe 1, the company made a record profit of 2.2 billion euros this year.

A performance that annoys the unions, who deplore the deterioration of the working conditions of railway workers.

This is news that should not ease social tensions within the SNCF.

The year 2022 will have been particularly juicy for the railway company.

According to information from Le

Parisien

, confirmed by Europe 1, the company made a record profit of 2.2 billion euros.

And this sum could reach 3 billion euros, if we add the sale of the locomotive rental company Akiem, which was 50% owned by the SNCF.

A record amount that leaves a very bitter taste in the unions.

For the latter, the good results were made in the pain of the railway workers, in particular because of the chronic understaffing which generated a very difficult social context in the company.

"Recognize these professions at their fair value"

So, faced with this colossal sum, the unions intend to demand more measures in favor of employees, and a redistribution of the money.

“There are two major elements that we are asking for: a major recruitment plan for 2023. And above all, recognizing these professions at their fair value. This will therefore go through another salary meeting which we hope for next February” , explains at the microphone of Europe 1, the federal secretary of the Sud-Rail union, Erik Meyer.

Faced with these initial demands, the SNCF chose for the moment to keep a low profile.

It will not communicate the final figures for this profit until next February.
