As of the 26th of this month, the retail price of regular gasoline nationwide averaged 167.9 yen per liter, down 0.2 yen from last week.

This was announced by the Petroleum Information Center, which is commissioned by the government to investigate gasoline prices.

In the beginning of this month, measures against the new corona infection were eased in China, and although crude oil prices rose on expectations of economic recovery, they fell for the second consecutive week due to the effect of government subsidies.

From the 29th, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will provide a subsidy of 14.8 yen per liter from the amount wholesaled to gas stations in various places.

Regarding the outlook for the future, the Petroleum Information Center said, "Although crude oil prices are currently on an upward trend, gasoline prices are not expected to change significantly, partly because the yen is trending higher."
