Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inspected the progress of work on the hydroelectric station project with stored water energy technology, which the authority is implementing in Hatta, as the completion rate in the project reached 58.48%, at a time when the capacity will reach The power of the station is 250 megawatts, with a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt hours, with a lifespan of 80 years.

DEWA stated that this station is the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region, pointing out that the project's investments amount to one billion and 421 million dirhams, while it is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2024.

The authority stated that the hydroelectric station project with the stored water energy technology in Hatta comes within the authority’s efforts to achieve the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and within the framework of the comprehensive development plan for the development of the Hatta region launched by His Highness, to meet Hatta region's developmental, social, economic and environmental needs, and providing innovative job opportunities for citizens in the region.
