We remember
his visit to Beirut
, just after the explosion that ravaged part of the city in the summer of 2020, and we remember his efforts to try to obtain reforms from the Lebanese leaders, on background of an economic crisis of historic proportions.
The French initiative at the time had led to no results, but the French president is talking about Lebanon again, in the wake of his visit to the Middle East this week.
While Lebanon is once again experiencing a political deadlock, without a president since October 1, Emmanuel Macron points to those responsible, without naming them.

The French president is considering a regional conference, in a format comparable to the one held this week in Jordan, and which would include Iran among the participants.
The Islamic Republic is closely linked to Lebanese Hezbollah, which is both an essential political party and a heavily armed militia.
