The Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, launched the construction works for the “Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls” project, which was awarded by the Authority at a cost of about 46 million dirhams, as part of its social and investment responsibility, to make this project a distinctive tourist destination.

Al Tayer said, "Within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development throughout the Emirate of Dubai, and for the city of Hatta to be a tourist and investment attraction center par excellence, while preserving the city's heritage." With its ancient and attractive nature, the authority is implementing pioneering projects in Hatta, through which it aims to contribute to the development of the region, provide innovative job opportunities for the citizens of the region, and enhance the happiness of society.

He added, "The (Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls) project aims to create a sustainable natural environment, in addition to developing the area and turning it into recreational spaces and tourist attractions in the UAE." With the nature of the area in Hatta, to form green spaces around it that divide the project into four main oases, which represent investment opportunities for retail stores that include cafes and restaurants, and children's playgrounds, in addition to shops selling natural honey, local products and souvenirs.

Al Tayer continued, "The stores will be presented as a tribute from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to the citizens of the Hatta region, to provide additional job opportunities and meet the needs of social, economic and environmental development."

Al Tayer stressed the keenness in the implementation of the "Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls" project to use the latest, most advanced and safest technologies, to suit the geological conditions of the Hatta region, taking into account the highest international environmental standards, to preserve the "Hatta Mountain Reserve", and to harmonize the project with its surroundings in the Hatta region, and provide an experience Quality and unique for UAE tourists, and contribute to highlighting the beauty in the mountainous regions of the country.

An innovative architectural idea

The "Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls" project is unique in its innovative architectural idea, which is inspired by the hexagonal beehive design.

The oases of the project were linked by bridges crossing the water channel.

The “Sustainable Hatta Waterfalls” is one of the prominent projects that will be implemented during the coming period, by taking advantage of the slope of the upper dam of the “Hatta” station, using it as a natural waterfall, and creating a water course below the dam, so that that water can be collected at the end of the stream, recycled and pumped. to the top of the slope.
