Bottles of Get 27 will no longer be available in Carrefour and Système U supermarkets at the end of the year, reports the specialized media Rayon Boissons.

Both brands have begun removing the alcoholic beverage from their shelves.

They are opposed to a change in recipe decided by the brand of the Bacardi-Martini group, confirmed Système U to BFM Business.

To reduce its production costs, more than for the sake of public health, the manufacturer decided to lower the alcohol content of the liqueur from 21° to 17.9°.

In this way, the Bacardi-Martini group has made great savings by reducing the tax applied to alcohol, under the social security contribution.

500 euros/hl of alcohol saved

With the previous recipe, the company paid 579.96 euros/hl, the amount decided for drinks over 18°.

But by reducing the alcohol level below this threshold, he only pays 48.97 euros/hl.

What upsets Carrefour and Système U is that the price per bottle has not changed.

The two brands consider that this change in formula and the resulting advantages should have been reflected on the shelves.

Carrefour and Système U failed to come to an agreement with the manufacturer of the Get 27 and therefore decided to delist the product.

Bad news for Bacardi-Martini, which had nevertheless seen its sales of Get 27 increase in November by 2.8% over one year (2.9 million liters), according to Nielsen.

The end-of-year celebrations were an opportunity to continue this momentum.
