Dubai receives 11.4 million international tourists in 10 months

The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai revealed the latest statistics on the performance of the tourism sector and the number of international visitors during the first ten months of this year, which showed that the emirate attracted 11.4 million international tourists between January and October 2022, compared to 4.88 million international visitors in the same period of 2022. last year, an increase of 133.6%.

According to the data, India came at the forefront of the export markets for international visitors to Dubai, during the period between January and October 2022, recording more than 1.4 million tourists, followed by Oman with about 1.1 million visitors, while the total number of visitors from the Saudi market reached about 993 thousand visitors, and from United Kingdom 812 thousand visitors.

In turn, Russia ranked fifth with about 548,000 visitors, followed by the United States with about 440,000 visitors, then Germany with about 310,000 visitors, Pakistan with 304,000 visitors, and France with about 301,000 visitors, while Iran recorded about 275,000 visitors.

In addition, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai, at the end of October 2022, reached more than 144.7 thousand hotel rooms within 790 hotel establishments, compared to 134.4 thousand hotel rooms within 736 establishments at the end of October 2021.

The average hotel occupancy rate in all establishments operating in Dubai was 71%, compared to 64% in the same period in 2021.

Luxury hotel rooms of the "five-star" category accounted for 34% of the total volume of the hotel market in Dubai, registering about 49,000 hotel rooms within 148 hotel establishments, followed by hotel rooms of the "four-star" category, by 29%, registering about 42,000. Hotel rooms within 187 establishments.

For its part, hotels classified between "three stars" and "star" accounted for about 19% of the total volume of the hotel market, with a capacity of more than 27.8 thousand hotel rooms within 262 hotel establishments.

As for hotel apartments, their number exceeded 25.7 thousand apartments within 193 establishments, thus accounting for 18% of the hotel market.

The length of stay of guests between January and October 2022 recorded about four hotel nights, compared to 4.6 nights in the same period in 2021, while the number of nights (reserved rooms) reached about 30.4 million overnight stays, compared to 24.7 million overnight stays in the corresponding period, with a percentage of 23% growth.

According to the data, the average daily price for a hotel room amounted to 506 dirhams, compared to 384 dirhams in the corresponding period, so that the return from available rooms was about 362 dirhams, compared to 245 dirhams.

The GCC region ranked first in terms of the source of visitors to Dubai, accounting for 22% of the total number of visitors during the first ten months of this year, followed by Western Europe with 20%, then South Asia with 17%.

In turn, the Middle East and North Africa region accounted for 12%, and the Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe regions accounted for 11%.

The Americas accounted for 7%, Africa 5%, North and Southeast Asian countries 4%, and the “Australasia” region, which includes: Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and neighboring islands 2%.
