The second vice president and Minister of Labor,

Yolanda Díaz

, has reported this Wednesday that the negotiating commission of United We Can is already constituted in her name to deal with the PSOE, partners in the coalition government, the action on the

prices of the basket of the purchase and the increase in mortgage prices

as "urgency measures".

"From our position, I continue to say that we must act in the shopping basket and also in mortgages," Díaz pointed out at a press conference.

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor recalled that

since the return of summer

she has insisted that the increase in the cost of the shopping basket due to inflation makes it impossible for many Spanish families to eat a healthy diet.

Díaz has pointed out that when the Government acts, as in the case of energy, prices are controlled, but when it does not, as with food, prices become 15.4% more expensive, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

"For a family that earns 1,000 euros a month, the increase in CPI terms of 15.4% is an impossible mission. Therefore

, yes, we are going to negotiate the shopping basket,"

he assured.

The second vice president and Minister of Labor has also advanced that the proposals that will lead to the negotiation will move away from those made "from the economic right and the PP", such as the lowering of VAT, since

"they are not effective".

"It's not about that," Díaz indicated, before citing the Bank of Spain reports that show

"a very direct transfer of company profits to large food distributors."

Díaz has stressed that the generic measures on the shopping basket "are not worth" and "do not help", and added that the country's producers must also be protected, who are also being affected.

The other measure that Díaz will bring to the negotiation with the PSOE will be the freezing of mortgage payments, retroactively, from the rise in the Euribor.

"It is an impossible mission for many Spanish families to be able to assume today the increase that the Euribor represents in their mortgage," said the second vice president and Minister of Labor, who referred to increases of 45% in those installments.

The Council of Ministers approved in November the measures agreed between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the banking sector to alleviate the mortgage burden of more than a million vulnerable families or those at risk of vulnerability due to the rise in the Euribor, a third of the households that They have variable rate mortgages.

The two approved Codes of Good Practices will be voluntarily adhered to by financial institutions, which will be obliged to comply with them once signed.

Díaz then stated that this agreement was

"a small step",

although it was "substantially improvable".

WAITING FOR THE SMI REPORT

The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy must convene the social agents in a few weeks to negotiate the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) for 2023.

Díaz constituted a few months ago the Committee of Experts that had to prepare the new calculations for the establishment of the SMI to update them with the average Spanish salary of 2022.

The minister has admitted this Wednesday that she has not yet received the report and has guaranteed that the experts "are completing their tasks".

"They had the task of making the report for November. We have already invaded December, but I am a result of them sending it to me," she reported.

The Government's commitment is to set the 2023 SMI at 60% of the average Spanish salary.
