The Dubai Customs Department affirmed the continuation of its initiatives to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to increase the value of Dubai trade to two trillion dirhams during the coming period.

And it stated in a statement that it had recently held a high-level meeting at its headquarters with representatives of free zones in the emirate, during which facilitation of customs procedures for companies listed in free zones was discussed, and the most prominent smart customs services aimed at facilitating business sectors and saving time and cost for them were presented. And increasing the return on its business, which stimulates attracting new foreign investments in those areas. The meeting also dealt with the future plan of "Dubai Customs" to support the commercial operations of the free zones in Dubai.

The Executive Director of the Policies and Legislation Sector (in charge) at Dubai Customs, Farida Fadel Al-Muaini, stressed the importance of the role of free zones in Dubai's economy, and their contribution over the past decades to advancing economic development in the emirate and the country as a whole, pointing out that the digital procedures and services that The progress of "Dubai Customs" has strengthened the work environment of these regions, and increased re-exports from Dubai to the world, which establishes the emirate's pivotal position in global trade.

Al Maeeni confirmed that Dubai Customs supports the efforts of the Emirate of Dubai to attract new investments to free zones in the emirate, by providing quality services and initiatives, including the service of issuing authorization certificates for free zone companies, which enables them to speed up and facilitate customs clearance of their commercial goods, and reduce the cost of commercial operations. These companies, and thus enable them to improve their financial return.

She referred to the "goods inventory management" initiative for companies and customs warehouses licensed in free zones in Dubai, which is the system that Dubai Customs is working to develop, with the aim of supporting and developing trade in re-exporting goods from free zones to global markets, facilitating customs compliance procedures, and reducing time. And the effort necessary for companies to document their operations, and to provide supportive means to make Dubai the capital of the economy, and a global station for providing investment opportunities, and this initiative is the first of its kind at the level of customs departments in the world.
