Yes, labor and management reached a provisional agreement after last-minute negotiations that started at 11:50 last night and lasted for over five hours.

As a result, the strike by the railroad union, which was announced at 9 am today, was withdrawn at around 4:30 am, about 30 minutes before the first train departs at 5 am.

All trains and subways in the metropolitan area operated by Korail, such as lines 1, 3, and 4, are scheduled to operate normally, so there will be no disruption on the way to work.

In addition, when the railway union strikes in a situation where logistics disruptions have occurred due to the freight union strike, it is expected that three-quarters of the freight trains will stop, so the tense industrial site will be able to breathe.

The biggest issue was the wage increase rate.

The union demanded a monthly increase of 187,000 won, and the company had not been able to find a point of contact while enduring that it could only raise 1.4% because the government had fixed the total monthly salary. It was confirmed that a consensus was reached.

The introduction of the promotion point system, the recruitment of safety-related personnel, and the privatization of railroads were also major issues of disagreement between labor and management, but it is said that both sides reached an acceptable agreement.

The final agreement will be finalized through the Expanded Dispute Countermeasures Committee and general meeting of union members, which will be held at 3:00 p.m. today.
