Starting today (23rd) at the hospital, tomorrow the cargo union, and then the subway and railroad are scheduled to go on strike one after another.

The labor world said they would go on strike for safety and livelihood.

Reporter Jae Hee-won, there seem to be a lot of people behind you. Where are you now?

<Reporter>

Yes, I am at the Gunja Depot in Seoul.

Right now, about 2,000 union members of the Seoul Transportation Corporation, which operates subway lines 1 through 8 in Seoul, are holding a general strike ceremony.

When the Seoul Transportation Corporation announced that it would reduce its capacity by 10% by 2026, the union would fight it with a strike.

As seen in the Sindang Station accident, the union insisted that the management side overturn the labor-management agreement, as safety manpower needs to be increased.

The labor union will start a law-abiding struggle to abide by the two-man-one-team principle from tomorrow, and the railroad union will also go on strike next week demanding manpower reduction and an end to privatization.

Today, the Seoul National University Hospital and Boramae Hospital unions and the Health Insurance Corporation customer center union went on strike to oppose manpower reduction and to improve working conditions.

cargo unions have already announced that they will go on strike tomorrow. Is this going on as planned?

[Reporter

] Yes, it is.

The cargo regiment will go on an indefinite strike from 4 hours later.

Listen to the cargo worker story.

[Nam-Jun Woo/Vice Chairman of the Cargo Solidarity of the Public Transport Workers' Union: (The ruling and opposition parties) said they would discuss the safe fare system, but it was only discussed once at the National Assembly's Special Committee on Public Welfare.

The safety of the road and the safety of the citizens were not guaranteed because the proper fare was not guaranteed.] The

Cargo Solidarity is in a position to permanently implement a safe fare system similar to the minimum wage for drivers and expand it to other items besides containers and cement.

However, the government is unable to find an agreement because it is possible to extend the fare system for three years, but it is difficult to further expand it.

The government announced that it would put in a replacement vehicle and arrest illegal acts such as obstruction of transportation.

I explained earlier that safety and livelihood were the reasons for the strike in the labor world. Please explain this part in more detail.

<Reporter>

Yes, the day after tomorrow, about 80,000 non-regular workers who are in charge of school care and school lunches will go on strike demanding an end to discrimination against regular workers.

It is like holding a large-scale strike simultaneously after the launch of the new government.

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), which is leading the strike, put forward the cause of public safety and life protection, the expansion of labor rights, and the suppression of privatization.

The government maintains dialogue, but is only taking a principled position that illegal acts will be severe.

I think we can judge the current government's labor policy by looking at how it responds to strikes.
