“The story was that Gazprom created Nord Stream 2 AG, which was supposed to implement Nord Stream 2, and he was going to sell 10% of shares in this company to five European companies.
To close the share sale transaction, it was necessary to obtain permission from all antimonopoly authorities of all states where all participants have any business, including the Polish antimonopoly authority, ”said Yushkov.
According to him, Poland has forbidden to close such a deal.
“That is, Gazprom remained the owner of all 100% shares of Nord Stream 2 AG.
Instead, all these companies simply gave Gazprom a loan for the same amount they were supposed to pay.
There is no need to agree on a loan, everything was done according to the law.
The Polish antimonopoly authority continued to put spokes in the wheels,” the analyst added.
Now, as Yushkov added, history "closed logically and rationally."
“But we understand that if the situation were favorable, and Nord Stream 2 would be close to launch, or was launched, then Poland would not leave this business like that,” the specialist concluded.
Earlier it became known that the Polish court overturned the decision to impose fines on Gazprom and European partners in the construction of Nord Stream 2.
This was reported by the Polish Office for the Protection of Competition and Consumers UOKiK.
The agency recalled that in May 2018, without the necessary consent of the head of UOKiK, proceedings were initiated to impose a fine on Gazprom and five companies, including Engie Energy, Uniper, OMV, Shell and Wintershall, for creating a company responsible for the construction and operation " Nord Stream - 2".
