The Masdar Green Real Estate Investment Fund, the first of its kind in the UAE dedicated to investing in sustainable real estate assets, announced the completion of the acquisition of real estate worth 934 million dirhams, bringing the value of its real estate assets portfolio to 1.91 billion dirhams.

Masdar Capital Management Limited, the fund's manager, revealed the acquisitions during Abu Dhabi Financial Week, pointing out that this comes after the fund signed a $200 million financing agreement with First Abu Dhabi Bank last January, with the aim of developing its portfolio of projects.

The fund's recent acquisitions include two fully occupied buildings with a LEED platinum rating (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in Masdar City: the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, and the Union Sustainable Housing Complex.

The headquarters of the Institute of Technological Innovation, which has a gold rating under the LEED system, has also been acquired.

These three assets were rated “3 Pearls”, according to the Pearl Rating System for Buildings of the “Sustainability” program in Abu Dhabi.

Anthony Taylor, senior executive officer at Masdar Capital Management Limited, said that the fund's assets have more than doubled over the past two years since its inception, which is tangible evidence of the potential for sustainable real estate development in the region.

It also highlights the investment attractiveness of Masdar City as an advanced center for innovation and a thriving sustainable community.

It is noteworthy that the Masdar Green Real Estate Investment Fund was established by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, as an investment tool to enable professional investors to invest in a portfolio that includes sustainable, professionally managed, income-generating real estate assets in Masdar City.
