The UAE ranked first in the list of the 20 largest air transport markets in the world in terms of growth in scheduled seat capacity on flights at its international airports (number of seats), according to data published by OAG International, which provides data for airports and airlines.

The Corporation revealed that the airlines operating in the airports of the UAE will occupy about 1.39 million seats on international flights departing during the week that began on November 14, compared to 1.46 million seats in the corresponding week of 2019, that is, before the “pandemic”.

On a weekly basis, capacity increased by 3.4% compared to the previous week, indicating that air carriers at the country's airports added about 50,000 seats in one week.

According to the data, of which Emirates Today obtained a copy, the aviation sector in the UAE recovered about 95.3% of the scheduled seat capacity during the week that began on November 14, compared to the same period of pre-Covid-19 levels.

OAG data showed that the country's airports recorded strong and continuous growth rates in their capabilities during the current year compared to last year's levels, with more airlines resuming their flights, opening new destinations, as well as operating additional flights to various international markets.

OAG stated that airlines in the Middle East region will occupy about 4.49 million seats this week, a growth rate of 1%, compared to last week, pointing out that the UAE market accounts for more than 30% of the total volume of capacity it occupies. airlines in the region as a whole.
