Two directors in two travel agencies told Emirates Today that prices will continue to rise during the coming period as the date of flights approaches, in conjunction with the vacation, to reach high levels for recent reservations, which are made hours or days before the date of travel.

They pointed out that the most requested Arab destinations, which are witnessing increases in travel ticket prices, are: Cairo, Alexandria, Amman, and Beirut.

In detail, data for websites specialized in flight reservations revealed an increase in the average prices of travel tickets to four Arab destinations, with rates exceeding 35% for direct flights from the UAE market, in conjunction with the winter vacation for schools next December.

The data of a survey conducted by «Emirates Today» includes the prices of direct round-trip flights during the period between December 13 and 19, for current bookings, compared to the average prices of the same flights during one week, as of November 13.

The average price of a ticket to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, reached about 2,000 dirhams during the week starting from December 13, compared to about 1,500 dirhams for flights for the same period in the week starting from November 13, with an increase of 33%.

The average ticket price to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, amounted to 2,100 dirhams, compared to 1,600 dirhams, an increase of more than 31%, to the Jordanian capital, Amman, 2,300 dirhams, compared to 1,700 dirhams, an increase of 35%, and to the Egyptian city of Alexandria, about 2000 dirhams, compared to 1500 dirhams, an increase of 33%.

The general manager of Belhasa Tourism Company, Narouz Sarkis, pointed to a gradual increase in the prices of airline tickets as of mid-December, noting that regional destinations are witnessing a remarkable demand for reservations, in conjunction with the school winter holidays, Christmas and the New Year.

Sarkis said, "The prices of travel tickets for flights starting from December 12 are up to 40% higher than the average prices for flights now." Which takes place hours or days before the date of travel.

Sarkis stated that "the demand for air travel continues until the first week of January 2023, as prices remain at high levels for both return and return flights," stressing that pre-booking currently allows customers to obtain lower prices, compared to reservations that will be made during the coming period.

He pointed out that the demand for travel during the winter vacation from inside the Emirates to abroad is concentrated in two parts: the first is for the purpose of visiting residents in the country to their countries, and the second is concentrated in tourist destinations that are considered the most popular in Europe and Southeast Asia, as well as tourist stations relatively close to the country's airports, Pointing out that the most popular Arab destinations are: Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon.

For his part, Executive Director of Dubai World Travel, Bader Ahli, said that "the demand for travel during the peak of the winter period is relatively less, compared to rates during the summer vacation," pointing out that most trips are for a limited period of time concentrated in the month of December, Thus, we are witnessing increases in average ticket prices, which may rise significantly in the event of recent bookings.

He added that "the increases in airline ticket prices range between 25 and 35 percent, depending on the destination, the level of demand for it, the size of the seat capacity, or the flights operated by air carriers."

Ahli continued: "The higher the occupancy rate on flights during the height of winter, the prices gradually rise, and may reach significant levels," pointing out that airlines offer many price categories on travel tickets, as there are discounted and promotional prices, as well as flexible tickets that It gives the customer the opportunity to make an amendment in the event of an emergency. He pointed out that travel tickets in general, including “flexible”, are subject to many terms and conditions that should be known precisely before making a reservation.
