This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.

“It is clear that the diversion was intended to permanently sever Europe’s mutually beneficial energy ties with Russia,” he wrote in an article for the National Interest.

Antonov called the emergency at Nord Stream an extremely dangerous precedent, "because any critically significant facility, wherever it is, is under threat."

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia had begun to study the causes of the explosions at Nord Stream.

On September 26, Nord Stream 2 AG reported an emergency on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

On October 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Gazprom company had examined the sites of explosions at Nord Stream.
