Seventeen years after its creation, the Sarenza site has changed hands.

This Wednesday, November 2, the Beaumanoir group formalized the takeover of the online shoe sales site, fierce competitor of Spartoo and Zalando.

Already the owner of the Cache Cache, Bonobo or even Breal and Caroll brands, the company based in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) had entered into exclusive negotiations with Monoprix, which had bought Sarenza in 2018. The amount of the transaction does not has not been revealed.

Founded in 2005, the Sarenza site had reached a turnover of 200 million euros in 2019 but was struggling to generate a profit as the margins are low in the online ready-to-wear sector.

In 2020, the Covid had increased its turnover by 10% before this momentum fell slowly.

But by buying the French online sales site, Beaumanoir is not looking to acquire a cash machine.

Rather a springboard to show itself on the digital: "This merger responds to the development strategy of Beaumanoir's e-commerce offer to establish itself as the main French lifestyle market place", explains the group, which had already recently acquired The hall.

The Malouin group's turnover has doubled in three years and should reach two billion euros in 2022. But the digital offer of the empire founded by Roland Beaumanoir was not yet up to its ambitions.

"All our brands will be able to benefit greatly from Sarenza's influence on the e-commerce market, and Sarenza will be able to benefit from a powerful physical network for its deliveries", assures Jérôme Drianno, CEO of Beaumanoir, in a press release.

His group employs more than 13,000 people and 2,500 points of sale around the world.

It will soon absorb several hundred additional employees.
