The fuel shortage is pushing many French people to cancel their All Saints holidays.

According to the president of the Union of trades and industries of the hotel industry (Umih), the hotel sector accuses 60% of cancellations compared to the planned reservations.

“When there is no more mobility, there is no more activity”, notes Roland Héguy on franceinfo this Tuesday.

He called on the strikers who are mobilizing in the refineries to demand a wage increase to put an end to their movement: “now we have to stop, we cannot block all of France.

However, the summer season was particularly good in 2022 after two difficult years for the tourism sector, in particular because of the Covid-19 crisis.

"The paradox is incredible, because we had an extraordinary season, everyone was happy," said Roland Héguy.

General strike this Tuesday

After more than two weeks of strike in the refineries and a few days before a first wave of departures on vacation, public and private employees are called on Tuesday to stop work and demonstrate, for a rise in wages and against the requisitions of strikers.

Many sectors have filed appeals: public service, energy, public transport, road, agri-food, trade, etc.

Unions of vocational high schools will also demonstrate, to protest against the reform of this path wanted by the government.
