The World Tourism Organization reported that the UAE market recorded a growth of 3% in the number of international visitors during the first seven months of this year, compared to the same period in 2019, that is, before the pandemic levels, noting that the UAE was among the markets best recovering from the repercussions pandemic between January and July 2022.

According to the organization’s data, “Emirates Today” obtained a copy of it, the UAE market recorded strong performance levels in the indicators of the recovery of the tourism sector, pointing out that the rates of international visitor flow to the UAE reached its highest levels during the period between February and April last, compared to levels before pandemic.

It added that Europe and the Middle East markets were the fastest to recover between January and July 2022, with the number of international visitors reaching 74% and 76% each, respectively.

Globally, the organization said that international tourism continued to achieve remarkable growth rates during the last period, with the number of international visitors reaching about 57%, compared to pre-pandemic levels, in the first seven months of 2022, explaining that the number of international tourists nearly tripled by 172%. compared to last year's levels.

She stressed that this steady recovery is an indication of the strong pent-up demand for international travel.

She explained that hotel establishments in the country attracted about six million visitors who spent 25 million hotel nights during the first quarter of 2022, a growth of 10% compared to the same period in 2019, while the average length of stay for hotel establishment guests achieved a growth of 25% during the same comparison period. , rising from three to four hotel nights, while the occupancy rate of hotel establishments in the country during this period reached 80%, which is one of the highest rates in the world.

Hotel establishments achieved revenues of 11 billion dirhams during the first quarter of this year, a growth of 20% compared to the same period in 2019, when these establishments recorded a return to work with their full capacity of about 200,000 hotel rooms.

20 million passengers through the country's airports in 3 months

The number of passengers, through the country's airports, exceeded the 20 million mark during the first quarter of this year, compared to 8.6 million passengers recorded in the same period in 2021, an increase of 135%.

The number of transit passengers out of the total passengers through the country's airports, during the first three months of this year, amounted to about seven million passengers, a growth of 203% compared to the same period last year.
