The UAE approves the general budget of the Union 2023-2026 with a total estimated expenditure of 252.3 billion dirhams

The Cabinet, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, "may God protect him", approved the Federation's general budget plan for the years 2023-2026, with total estimated expenditures estimated at 252.3 billion dirhams, and total estimated revenues. At 255.7 billion dirhams, of which a budget was allocated for the year 2023, with total public expenditures presented for approval in the amount of 63,066 billion dirhams, and total public revenues presented for approval in the amount of 63,613 billion dirhams.

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance stressed that the government's most important priorities are to provide a decent life and prosperity for the people of the country and all the people of the UAE, and that the UAE is under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, "may God protect him", laid solid foundations for the system of government work, to move at an accelerated pace towards promoting sustainable development.

His Highness said, "The general budget of the Federation is an essential pillar in the development process in the UAE, and the directives of its wise leadership achieve our development and social requirements for the coming years."

He stressed that the Union's budget is flexible and subject to continuous reviews in order to keep pace with all changes, trends and higher directives.. Our goal is to ensure the highest levels of financial efficiency for the Union government.

His Highness added, "The general budget of the Union, its financial resources are sustainable, and its main role is to strengthen and consolidate the Union Government in its developmental, economic and social path."

For his part, His Excellency Muhammad bin Hadi Al-Husseini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, confirmed that the approval of the draft general budget of the Federation for the fiscal year 2023 was based on the provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. (26) of 2019 on public finance, and in accordance with the best international standards and practices, with the aim of raising spending efficiency. The government and the optimal use of financial resources in strategically important sectors, in order to support the achievement of the country's development goals and policies.

His Excellency indicated that most of the 2023 budget was allocated to support the wise leadership's directions in developing government services, raising the level of well-being, happiness and security for all members of society in the UAE, providing the highest levels of social care, health and educational services, and enhancing the economic environment and investment infrastructure in the country.

In detail, the federal budget for the fiscal year 2023 was approved, with expenditures of 63,066 billion dirhams, and total revenues of 63,613 billion dirhams.

It was distributed among the sectors of social development and social benefits, the government affairs sector, the financial investments sector, and other federal expenses.

Social development and social benefits sector A total of


(24.8) billion dirhams have been allocated to the development and social benefits sector, at a rate of (39.3%) of the total general budget. 5%) of the total budget, and financial appropriations for health services and community protection amounting to (4.8) billion dirhams, or (7.6%) of the total general budget, while the financial appropriations for social affairs amounted to (3.5) billion dirhams, at a rate of (5.6%) ) of the total general budget, and appropriations for pensions (5) billion dirhams, at a rate of (8%) of the total general budget.

Governmental Affairs Sector


(23.9 billion dirhams) has been allocated from the federal budget for the year 2023 to the government affairs sector, representing 38% of the total general budget.

Infrastructure and Economic Sector A total of


2.4 billion dirhams has been allocated from the budget to the infrastructure and economic sector, which constitutes 3.8% of the total general budget.

Financial Investments Sector


: (2.1 billion dirhams) of the budget has been allocated to the financial investments sector, which constitutes 3.4% of the total general budget, and includes an amount of (753) million dirhams for federal investment projects.

Other federal expenses


A total of 9.8 billion dirhams were allocated for other federal expenses, amounting to (15.5%) of the total general budget.
