• Public Function Officials begin to apply their 'light' oppositions: "The Government wants to get close people"

Almost half of the officials abuse anxiolytics, antidepressants or sleeping pills.

It is, specifically,

45% of public workers

, according to a study prepared by the Central Independent Trade Union and Civil Servants (CSIF).

And that consumption occurs almost daily.

"The workload, the low professional and salary recognition and the bad work environment, the main causes of the consumption of psychotropic drugs," explains the union, which also traces the profile of the most common consumer.

"The daily consumption of these drugs is almost generalized, according to the CSIF survey, in all areas of administration, although with special incidence in the field of health and education. The majority profile is that of a

woman between 45 and 54 years old,

a public health worker or an educational center worker who consumes anxiolytics daily, for bearing an excessive workload or for thinking that she lacks due professional recognition," explains the document published this Monday.

The work is the result of

2,000 interviews

with workers of the General State Administration (AGE) and of the autonomous communities, municipalities, Education, Health, Justice and public companies, which also reveal which are the most consumed psychotropic drugs: anxiolytics (66 %), antidepressants (43%) and sleeping pills (32%).

"76% state that work influences them when consuming these substances: 54% relate it to an excessive workload, 44% to poor professional recognition and 37% to a bad work environment", points to the document.

And from the union they underline "another significant fact": 55% of those surveyed acknowledge that they

did not consume this medication before the pandemic

, while 93% complain about the absence of health protection initiatives in their workplaces mental.
