Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the “Dioveres” platform in the world of metaverses to provide its services to its customers, employees and members of the community, thus becoming the first local government institution to launch its virtual platform in the world of metaverses. This came during the meeting of the Higher Committee for Digital Transformation in the authority, during which the digital maturity report was reviewed according to the “Digital Quotient Assessment” for the year 2022 conducted by the global consulting company “McKinsey”, where the authority maintained its first position among the global service institutions. with this evaluation.

On this occasion, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: "A translation of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to benefit from digital technologies. During the meeting, 7 projects using Metaverse technology were reviewed, including: The Customer Service Center, the first of its kind locally, which enables customers to communicate with service representatives to answer their inquiries and complete their transactions through the Dewaverse platform.

And the virtual work environment, which enables users of employees and senior management to move around the Authority's premises and hold meetings.

and the Future Lab, which will enable users to hold brainstorming sessions, discuss challenges and develop the best solutions using innovation tools via the virtual body’s platform.

and live innovation sessions, which enable users to view the latest innovations in the authority via the Dewaverse platform.

First aid, safety measures and fire prevention, which enables users to follow the safety and security steps.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority was one of the first government agencies in Dubai to complete the transformation of all its services into smart services by 100% in 2014, and one of the most prominent stations in its journey: the authority’s adoption of its smart application in Google glasses in 2014, which constituted a new shift in the quality of services provided .

The application was specifically designed to suit the needs of the authority by enabling engineers to monitor any malfunctions in the authority's stations.

In 2016, DEWA adopted the HoloLens technology from Microsoft, with the aim of enhancing its operations and improving productivity. DEWA is the first government institution to adopt this technology in the field of electricity and water services.

The authority also adopted the technology of the helmet and smart glasses (DAQRI) in 2017, which works with virtual reality technology to support engineers in power plants.

It is noteworthy that DEWA organized the 22nd Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Energy in 2020 through a virtual 3D platform, for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, allowing visitors and exhibitors from all over the world the opportunity to participate without The need to travel.

In addition, the authority provided a virtual reality studio and self-service devices for its employees. The studio provides the authority’s employees with simulated training on first aid, safety procedures and fire prevention, in addition to an overview of the authority, its projects, strategy, and the services it provides to employees and customers.

In 2021, DEWA launched a virtual reality power and water generation, production and distribution project, which provides a three-dimensional experience of touring 132/11 kV power stations, an interactive training test, a simulation model and a visualization of a number of devices and equipment in the distribution network.

Furthermore, in 2022, the authority launched an innovative experiment at the authority’s innovation center in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, where a digital guide was developed for the center, allowing a tour around the center based on augmented reality technology.
