Data from a number of tourism platforms show that some original ecological and less commercialized niche scenic spots and non-famous tourist cities are highly sought after by young tourists, and "reverse tourism" has become a new trend.

"The End of the Universe" hits the list

During this year's National Day Golden Week, tourist attractions across the country are still a hot scene. The topic of "men climb Huangshan and walk 1 meter in 10 minutes" has been on the hot search, and many scenic spots across the country have reached their maximum carrying capacity.

In the face of the surging tourist army, many tourists have different choices. They travel from big cities to small cities and enjoy high-star hotel services at low prices.

On the Qunar platform, the number of hotel room nights booked in “unpopular” tourist cities during the National Day holiday has increased by more than 30% compared with the same period in 2021. According to Mafengwo data, the average search popularity of "niche islands" has risen by more than 100% in the past week, and many islands in Guangdong, Fujian, and Zhejiang have made the list of "popular niche island destinations for the National Day holiday".

"Reverse tourism" means that young tourists choose non-famous tourist towns to take a quiet and leisurely vacation in order to avoid crowds.

Some netizens once posted the experience of "staying in a five-star hotel in Hegang for 300 yuan" on social platforms, which made Hegang tourism gain a wave of attention.

Cities such as Liuzhou, which is famous for its snail noodles, Tieling, the "end of the universe", and Karamay, a small oil town, are becoming popular destinations in this wave of "reverse tourism".

"Tourism in the past was to see the scenery, today's tourism is to experience the scene." Dai Bin, president of the China Tourism Academy, said that popular tourist attractions are often overcrowded and prices soar on holidays. As people's travel experience becomes more and more rich, many tourists If you don't want to follow the trend of traveling, as long as you find a quiet place to rest for a few days, it is a good way to vacation.

"Sleep until you wake up naturally" in Beijing suburban homestay

Similar to choosing unpopular city tourism, "hotel homestay tours" have also begun to gain popularity among young tourists.

On social platforms, some netizens summed up the essence of "lying travel": do not make plans, do not rush to attractions, sleep until you wake up naturally, rest mainly, and play as a supplement.

During this National Day holiday, the suburbs of Beijing ushered in a large number of tourists who "did not travel far".

"Chongyang Chongyang, the scenery is so beautiful!" On the evening of October 3, Mr. Liu brought his family to a homestay near the Badaling Great Wall. He slept until he woke up naturally the next day, and then greeted the Double Ninth Festival by climbing the Great Wall, very leisurely.

On the first two days of the holiday, Ms. Li's family of three stayed in the family room of a parent-child resort in Yanqing, and handed over the child to the housekeeper. She and her husband took a beautiful picture of a sea of flowers near the resort.

The National Day tourism consumption observation released by the Fliggy platform shows that the characteristics of high-quality and safe travel are remarkable. The number of orders for high-star hotels has doubled compared to the previous seven-day holiday during the Spring Festival. High-star resort hotels and suburban family hotels are more popular.

The National Day travel report of Tujia B&B shows that Beijing’s B&B travel popularity has continued to rank first since the Mid-Autumn Festival, and three suburbs of Huairou, Yanqing, and Miyun were on the list at the same time. Huairou B&B bookings increased by 60% year-on-year. The homestay market continues to lead the country.

Camping gameplay unlocks golden autumn scenery

"Camping is the best way to unlock the beauty of autumn in the suburbs of Beijing!" said Liu Jun, a citizen who went camping at Baili Landscape Gallery in Yanqing during the National Day holiday.

This summer, she "planted" the new form of camping at the recommendation of a friend and bought some gear.

According to Ctrip data, the per capita camping cost during the National Day holiday is about 650 yuan, which is about 30% more expensive than the Mid-Autumn Festival camping. Tourists from Shanghai, Guangdong, Beijing and Zhejiang prefer long-term camping.

On the Fliggy platform, personalized gameplays such as "camping + Frisbee", "camping + cycling", "camping + barbecue", "camping + nature sketching", "camping + insect exploration" are very popular.

According to Qunar platform data, bookings for camping theme parks in Beijing during the National Day holiday increased by 50% year-on-year, and bookings for camping-related products (accommodation, travel) were 4 times that of last year.

Camping is beautiful, but requires more attention from tourists.

Liu Jun shared his own strategies: When choosing a mountain campsite, you must pay attention to staying away from rockfall areas, not stationed in depressions, and try to choose flat areas with sunshine to avoid humid environments.

There is a large temperature difference between day and night in Beijing in autumn. Be sure to bring cold-proof clothing to ensure the windproof performance of the tent, and prepare personal medicines and anti-mosquito equipment.

Each travel platform reminds that the weather turns cooler and the temperature difference between morning and night is large. When camping in the mountains, you should pay special attention to keeping warm at night. You should choose a regular camping theme park, and it is not recommended to spend the night in the wild when camping. Try to "go on the same day and return on the same day".
