Mobile phone operators do not hide their concern about the risk of cuts this winter.

Indeed, the network manager, Enedis, has only planned to inform them the day before for the next day in the event of cuts linked to the looming energy shortage, explains Phonandroid this Friday.

Maintain a minimum service for emergency calls

This period is considered much too short by the operators.

And for good reason, the antennas are equipped with backup batteries to operate in the event of a power cut, but these can only last a few hours.

The challenge is therefore both to have certain operator infrastructures included on the list of services considered essential and which will be protected from power outages.

But also to define the protocol to be implemented in the event of an outage in order to maintain a minimum service, more particularly for emergency calls.

Reduced operator consumption

If the operators manage to work in collaboration with the manager of the energy network, it would be possible to replace the antennas affected by a cut by others located nearby so that they take over.

At the same time, some operators have started to reduce their consumption in order to hope for the least problems this winter.

A logical reaction because the best way to deal with the energy crisis is still to reduce consumption in many areas.
