Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne took the floor on Thursday to officially present the government's energy sobriety plan, which calls on the French to "general mobilization".

For this, an awareness campaign with the slogan "I lower, I turn off, I shift" will be broadcast on Monday.

The "general mobilization" is sounded by the government.

Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne officially presented this Thursday the energy sobriety plan to avoid any power cuts this winter, in a context of crisis.

To invite the French to participate in the collective effort, in particular by limiting heating to 19 degrees in apartments and offices, the government is betting on an advertising spot focused on the hunt for waste, a concept that has been all the rage over the years. 1970, and which will be broadcast from Monday.

A little recognizable music

This campaign "Each gesture counts" contains a small easily recognizable music.

It declines five main gestures to adopt on a daily basis.

The first gesture requested is therefore to lower the heating to 19 degrees.

Each degree less represents a saving of 7% of energy.

Then, it is recommended to lower your water heater to 55 degrees and spend less time in the shower to save 10% energy.

The third step is to turn off devices that are not in use or on standby, again with a 10% energy saving.

Shift the use of your devices

Then, the fourth gesture suggests shifting the use of appliances outside peak periods.

This applies, for example, to running a washing machine rather at night than during the day.

If all the French get involved, the economy would be around the annual consumption of the city of Marseille.

Finally, the last gesture proposed is to install a programmable thermostat on its heating system, with a promise of 15% energy savings.

The government will also distribute a flyer for communities.
