The first meeting of a study group set up by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to realize a circular economy that tackles the reuse of resources, etc. We confirmed that we will formulate a national strategy for promoting industrial development and technological development during the fiscal year.

The study group was established to realize a circular economy that tackles the recovery and reuse of resources, and the first meeting on the 5th was attended by Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura, Keidanren Chairman Tokura, and experts.

At the beginning, Minister Nishimura said, "In addition to carbon neutrality in 2050, the transition to a circular economy is an urgent issue from the perspective of global resource demand."

The circular economy is also known as the "circular economy," and is becoming increasingly important from the perspective of effective use of energy, as Russia's military invasion of Ukraine has been prolonged, in addition to addressing climate change issues.

Based on this situation, at the meeting, discussions were held on the further advancement of recovery and recycling technologies for resources such as plastics, and the fostering of so-called sharing businesses, in which goods and services are shared with society.

The study group confirmed that it will formulate a national strategy for promoting industrial development and technological development towards the realization of a circular economy by the end of this fiscal year.
