According to preliminary figures released by the Japan Tourism Agency, the number of people who stayed at domestic hotels and inns in August increased by 49% from the same period last year.

In addition, the "occupancy rate" of guest rooms exceeded 50% for the first time since the spread of the new corona infection, and the use of accommodation facilities is gradually recovering.

In addition, the nationwide average occupancy rate, which indicates the rate of guest room occupancy, was 50.1%.

It is the first time since March 2020, when the number of guests has decreased significantly due to the corona sickness, that the occupancy rate has exceeded 50% according to preliminary figures.

This was mainly due to the fact that

there were no restrictions on activities during the summer vacation period for the first time in three years, and that the

“Prefectural Discount”, a measure to stimulate tourism demand, was supported.

From October 11th, instead of "prefectural discount", "National Travel Assistance" will be started to expand the target nationwide, so the tourism industry will enter the autumn excursion season, and people who stay at hotels and inns and go sightseeing. We hope that the number will increase further.
