This violence is the latest in this area, which has been

the scene of almost daily fighting

between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen in recent months.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said four men were shot and killed by Israeli forces during a raid in Jenin, and said 44 were injured.

A source from Jenin governorate told AFP that among the Palestinians killed was Abed Hazem, brother of Raad Hazem who is accused of carrying out a deadly attack in Tel Aviv's Dizengoff neighborhood last April.

The attack claimed the lives of three Israelis in a shootout.

Since the beginning of the year, the operations of the Israeli army have caused more than a hundred deaths in the occupied West Bank, according to a Palestinian count, reports our correspondent in Jerusalem,

Sami Boukhelifa

.

The military intervenes in densely populated urban areas.

These operations, which aim to arrest or eliminate Palestinian fighters, generally trigger clashes with the local population in Jenin, fiercely opposed to the Israeli occupation.

According to Hebrew State forces, Wednesday's operation resulted in the killing of "

two suspects involved in a number of recent attacks

".

A reference to a series of anti-Israeli attacks which, last spring, claimed the lives of around twenty people.

A circle of violence, where the Palestinians explain to defend themselves against the Israeli occupation.

And where the Israelis intensify a blind repression, precisely to fight against the “attacks of the Palestinians”.

This year, in addition to casualties, Israeli army operations in the occupied West Bank have led to the arrest of more than 1,500 people.
