His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, inaugurated the activities of the eighth edition of the World Green Economy Summit yesterday, in Dubai.

The summit will be attended by a group of global climate action leaders, ministers and officials from all sectors of the green economy and sustainable development from around the world.

The summit is organized by: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, the World Green Economy Organization and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, under the slogan “Leading Climate Action through Cooperation: The Roadmap to Achieving Carbon Neutrality”, and it coincides with the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Energy solar.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Chairman of the World Green Economy Summit, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, stressed the importance of the summit this year in light of the growing presence of the Middle East region on the global sustainability agenda, as the Arab Republic of Egypt and the UAE are preparing to host The 27th and 28th sessions of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change this year and next.

The World Green Economy Summit 2022 focuses on four main themes: “Energy”, “Finance”, “Food Security” and “Youth”.

The summit activities include a ministerial session that brings together more than 25 ministers from around the world, and will witness the holding of the Regional Youth Conference in the Middle East and North Africa 2022, in which more than 150 young people from all over the region will participate, in addition to 30 speakers from experts, specialists and senior officials. Personalities.

The activities of the second day of the summit will honor the winners of the fourth cycle of the Emirates Energy Award, which is organized by the Supreme Council of Energy under the slogan "Promoting innovation for sustainable energy".
