NTT West submitted a report to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on the 26th, which summarizes the detailed causes and scope of impact on the communication failure that occurred last month.

On the 25th of last month, NTT West suffered an Internet communication failure using optical lines in a wide area, including Kansai.

According to the summary of the report published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the failure occurred in 30 prefectures including Kansai, and for 5 hours and 47 minutes from 9:00 am, up to about 2.11 million Internet communication lines could not be connected, or , It is said that it has become difficult to connect.

In addition, due to improper operation of the maintenance network for transmission equipment, a state called "congestion" occurred in which access to the equipment monitoring the communication network was concentrated, and the backup equipment that was supposed to be switched was not working properly. I'm assuming it's because it didn't work.

Regarding this communication failure, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications requested a detailed report from the company, saying that it falls under the "serious accident" stipulated by the Telecommunications Business Law.

In addition, on the 14th of this month, we are conducting an on-site inspection at NTT West's facilities in Osaka, as the equipment that caused the communication failure is widely used by other companies.

In the future, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will consider necessary measures such as administrative guidance based on the contents of the report.

NTT West "Thorough efforts to prevent recurrence"

Regarding the submission of the report, NTT West said, "As a company that provides telecommunications services, which is an important infrastructure for our lives, we will strive to provide reliable and stable telecommunications services in order to fulfill our social responsibility, and will not allow similar events to occur. We will make every effort to prevent a recurrence so that there will be no recurrence."
