McDonald's Japan, a major hamburger chain, has announced that it will raise prices for the second time at the end of this month due to soaring raw material prices and the rapid depreciation of the yen.

Hamburgers will be raised from 130 yen to 150 yen including tax, and cheeseburgers will be raised from 160 yen to 180 yen.

According to the announcement, the price increase will be 10 yen to 30 yen for about 60% of all products sold in stores.

Delivery services and coffee chains operated by the company are also raising the prices of some products.

The company raised the price of about 20% of its products, including hamburgers, from 10 yen to 20 yen this March.

Regarding the second price increase, the company said that in addition to the continuing soaring prices of raw materials such as wheat and beef, the yen's depreciation in the foreign exchange market exceeded expectations.

McDonald's Japan commented, "We will continue to strive to improve quality, stable raw material procurement, and build a more efficient distribution network."
