Congress gives the green light to a spending ceiling in the Budgets that are already being prepared for the year 2023 of

198,221 million euros.

This is the largest spending figure in history that anticipates "expansive" accounts with the aim, according to the Government, of dealing with the inflationary crisis derived from the war and that takes advantage of the suspension of the fiscal responsibility rules authorized by Brussels for the exceptional economic situation that Europe is facing due to the conflict in Ukraine.

With the approval of the government proposal, the

first step is taken for the processing of the Budget project for 2023,

which has not yet been revealed by the Executive but which should be sent to the Chamber in a very short time in order to prevent its debate in Congress and Senate is done by horse's claw.

A project that, in addition, would be accompanied by a "temporary" tax for large fortunes - an original idea of United We Can - that would come into force on January 1, 2023, at the same time as the State accounts, and in which Treasury already works.

Admitting the exceptional situation that affects all of Europe and giving the go-ahead to a "historic" spending figure

has opened a new gap

between the economic models proposed by the government and its allies on the one hand and the opposition on the other .

A gap through which the debate on taxes and pensions has inevitably crept in, as well as the effectiveness of the Executive when it comes to using money that the Minister of Finance,

María Jesús Montero

, assures is destined directly to benefit and protect the "working class".

Montero, in defense of his proposal that

is not accompanied by a rebalancing plan as required by law,

has called on the parliamentary forces to give the go-ahead to the possibility of "exceeding the debt and deficit limits", as allowed on this occasion Brussels, "to attend to the exceptional situation" that Europe is experiencing and has accused the PP, a party that has opted for abstention, of embarking on an "obstructionist and denialist strategy that degrades political life" and impregnates it with "toxicity" .

For the

PP

, "Spain is going fatal" and, despite this, the Government is determined to "make money with inflation and not with growth."

In this debate, the popular have not brought up the tax reduction proposals that they champion.

It has not been necessary.

The parties that support the Government have taken charge of this by influencing the abolition of the wealth tax announced by Andalusia, following the path of Madrid, and which, in their opinion, will benefit the rich at the cost of causing serious damage to services public and the most vulnerable groups.

Eternal waiting lists in health and "disgusting" food in public schools are some of the pernicious effects that, for example, according to More Country, will cause the "battle for lower taxes"

For

United We Can,

in the current circumstances it is "inevitable the fiscal debate" and "urgently legislate" to prevent with "forceful actions" that the tax cuts proposed by the right threaten health and education.

The purple formation is committed to the Government, of which it is a part, deploying a budgetary policy that alleviates the loss of purchasing power of wages and the rise in interest rates agreed by the ECB.

Otherwise, they warn, "we will go straight to a plummet in consumption and investment."

Ciudadanos

, supports the spending ceiling proposed by the Government but insists on the "irresponsibility and lack of solidarity" involved in maintaining the link between pensions and the CPI.

For the oranges, increasing all pensions in line with runaway inflation is an "unsustainable" measure and deeply unsupportive of young people with which the Government only seeks to secure the bag of more than nine million votes that pensioners represent.

Vox

has justified its vote against by emphasizing the "embarrassing superfluous political spending" of a government with 22 ministries and the "recklessness" of a budget policy based on uncontrolled spending and the increase in fiscal pressure to the point Iván Espinosa de los Monteros has said that citizens "will work until August 20 only to pay the Treasury."

Voices have also been heard among the minority forces demanding that the Government "efficiency rather than more spending", "better execution of the money" and restraint to avoid falling into a "mess" such as the one caused by Zapatero's wasteful policy.

The PSOE has accused critics of the government's budget plans of "having no sense of state."

Its spokesman has anticipated that the State accounts that the Government will send to the Chamber "are not going to like anything" to the PP because "they will defend 99% of the population against 1%" of rich people whom the right wing intends to benefit.

The Socialists insist that with the IRPF deflation proposed by Feijóo "

only nine euros a month are offered to citizens"

while with the abolition of the wealth tax proposed by the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, "the rich are given 2,300 euros per month".
