Snow Peak, an outdoor equipment maker in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, announced that Risa Yamai will resign as president on the 21st, and that her father and chairman, Tai, will also serve as president.
According to the announcement, Mr. Yamai has offered to resign due to dating a married man and pregnancy.
The company accepted his resignation on the 21st, held an extraordinary board meeting, and decided that his father and chairman Futoshi Yamai would concurrently serve as president.
In response to this resignation, Mr. Tai and Vice President Fumihiro Takai will voluntarily return part of their executive compensation.
Risa Yamai assumed the post of president two years ago, and has expanded the business against the backdrop of the heightened interest in nature due to the spread of the new coronavirus.
The company commented, "We take this matter seriously, deeply reflect on it, and sincerely apologize to everyone involved."
