Salt is a condiment, not a health supplement or nutritional supplement.

Recently, all kinds of "net red" imported salt broke people's cognition of salt.

According to the "Beijing Youth Daily" report on September 18, the price of a 400-gram bag of edible refined salt was about 3 yuan, while Himalayan pink salt, Persian blue salt, American Hawaiian black salt, French gray salt, salt flower... ...In addition to the beautiful packaging, all kinds of products, and the "selling point" of the country of origin, the price is even more expensive.

For example, a 425-gram bottle of American Hawaiian black salt sells for as high as 169 yuan.

In fact, whether it is ordinary salt or internet celebrity salt, whether it is sea salt, lake salt, or mineral salt or rock salt, the main ingredients are sodium, iodine and other elements, and the core function is seasoning.

Ordinary edible salt also comes from the natural world, and its composition and nutritional value are almost the same as those of net red salt. Even if some net red salts contain some trace elements, the content is extremely low and almost negligible.

Elements such as arsenic and uranium are harmful to human health if the content is large.

Moreover, the main component of salt is sodium, and other elements in addition can be classified as "impurities".

If the net red salt contains more non-sodium "mineral" elements, it means that it has more impurities.

According to the marketing logic given by some merchants that "the content of calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc. contained in net red salt is higher than that of ordinary salt, and the nutrition is more balanced", coarse salt should be more nutritious than refined salt.

But facts and consumer experience prove that this is untenable.

my country has strict management standards and limited scope for the use of nutritional fortifiers and the labeling of nutritional ingredients in edible salt.

According to the "Standards for the Use of Food Nutrition Fortifiers" revised by the former Ministry of Health, no nutritional fortifiers other than iodine shall be added to table salt, and the labeling method of its "Nutrition Composition Table" is only "contains sodium", "contains sodium, iodine" and "contains sodium". , iodine, potassium" three.

This means that other so-called "mineral" elements are not included in the "Nutrition Facts Table" and are not allowed to be added to table salt.

In other words, salt is just a condiment, not a health product or nutritional product. It is basically unreliable to supplement "nutrient elements" with salt, which has a limited intake.

Merchants put labels such as "natural", "minerals" and "nutrition" on Internet celebrity salt, and tell consumers beautiful and attractive marketing stories, which are more or less suspected of being deliberately misleading.

The Advertising Law clearly states that advertisements must not contain false or misleading content, and must not deceive or mislead consumers.

Strictly speaking, the "marketing stories" of Internet celebrity salts told by merchants lack factual evidence and scientific support. Such false propaganda can easily mislead consumers, thereby hindering and infringing consumers' right to know and right to choose.

"Internet celebrity salt" cannot mislead consumers with "marketing stories".

It is necessary for market supervision departments, consumer associations, and related industry associations to strengthen the popularization of salt consumption, educate and guide consumers to increase their understanding of salt, and improve scientific consumption literacy.

At the same time, it is also necessary to cooperate with sales channels such as e-commerce platforms to conduct targeted investigations on the marketing behavior of Internet celebrity salts, and to draw a clear marketing bottom line for businesses in accordance with the law.

If false and exaggerated propaganda is found, it will intervene in a timely manner by interviewing, investigating, ordering rectification, and exposing, and issue warning information to consumers, and promptly tear off the misleading marketing packaging of Internet celebrity salt.

Of course, consumers also need to consume rationally. Don't be fooled by the so-called non-seasoning functions of Internet celebrity salt by some merchants, and don't pay too much attention to other ingredients other than the main elements such as "sodium" and "iodine". Quality and safety are the most important.
