The United Arab Emirates ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa region, and 11th globally in the Quality Infrastructure Index for Sustainable Development, issued by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the International Network for Quality Infrastructure (INet QI) for the year 2022 for the category of countries With a gross domestic product between $100 billion and $1 trillion, ahead of countries such as Portugal, Singapore, Finland, Denmark, and Belgium.

This indicator is an effective tool for comparing the strength of quality infrastructure in countries of the world to achieve sustainable economic development, which reflects the advanced Emirati capabilities in the quality infrastructure system. The indicator is based on five basic elements: standard specifications, standards, accreditation, conformity assessment and national policy quality, in a way that supports the implementation of national legislation and contributes to achieving national strategic goals, in addition to its contribution to meeting the needs of partners from the government and private sectors, manufacturers, suppliers and consumers.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Omar Al-Suwaidi, stressed that “the UAE has an advanced system for quality infrastructure elements, managed by the ministry, within a clear strategic vision to contribute to sustainable economic growth based on knowledge and innovation, and it includes technical legislation, standard specifications, standards, accreditation, and evaluation. Conformity, control and market survey, and works to continuously improve the efficiency and performance of the UAE industrial sector, and its ability to adopt and apply the best standards specifications, technical regulations and systems supporting the highest standards of production quality.

He added that "the ministry focuses, among its strategic objectives, on supporting the growth of the national industry and enhancing its competitiveness, stimulating innovation and adopting advanced technology in industrial systems and solutions, and creating an attractive business environment for local and international investors in the industrial sector."

Al-Suwaidi added, "The results of the report reflect the advanced national capabilities in the quality infrastructure system, and the steps taken by the state in creating a legislative and technical environment that supports confidence, efficiency, safety and innovation."

Hanan Mansour Ahli, Director of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, said, "The UAE's position as the first in the Middle East and North Africa, and its achievement of 11th globally in the (Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development) index, reflects the extent of the efforts made by the UAE government according to the perspective of A clear strategist who adopts the vision of the wise leadership for the UAE to be one of the best countries in the world at all levels.”

The Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, Dr. Hilal Humaid Al Kaabi, stressed the keenness of the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to consolidate the foundations of a knowledge-based economy to enhance its presence in global markets by developing a quality infrastructure in accordance with international standards of quality and conformity, through standardization and development of specifications, and capacity building. The standardization system, strengthening the inspection infrastructure, launching programs and certificates of conformity to the professions of individuals and products, taking care of the safety, health and environment of community members and ensuring fair trade.

For his part, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Daoud Al-Hajri, said: "This achievement of the UAE in the (Quality Infrastructure) index is among the distinguished and successive achievements in the global competitiveness indicators, which reflects the advanced and integrated system of the elements of quality infrastructure in the country. Which contributes to enhancing its economic and industrial growth, and consolidating its leadership in quality systems, accreditation and standard specifications.”

He added: “We are working in Dubai Municipality to manage an integrated quality infrastructure at the emirate level, by adopting an advanced technological system based on innovation and knowledge, in addition to the availability of technical laboratories for internationally advanced examination and accreditation services, as part of our keenness to enhance the quality of life in the Emirate of Dubai. and consolidating its leadership within the global growth and performance indicators.”
