[Explanation] Shanghai Rail Transit Chongming Line (hereinafter referred to as "Chongming Line") is the first line of Shanghai Rail Transit in the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan". After completion, the Chongming Line will be the first time that the Shanghai Metro will be fully underground twice. Cross the Yangtze River.

As a large-diameter mud-water balance shield tunnel with the longest one-time excavation distance for domestic rail transit, Bid 108 on Changxing Island is one of the most important and difficult engineering nodes to cross the Yangtze River.

On September 12, Chongming Line 108 welcomed the shield machine cutter head hoisting down the well.

  [Explanation] According to the project staff, the shield machine is expected to complete the installation and commissioning of the equipment before the end of October after going down the well, and will travel under the Yangtze River for most of the time thereafter.

  Our section is from Changxing Island to Pudong Work Well, with a total length of 7.74 kilometers, and about 6 kilometers or more is crossing under the Yangtze River.

The 6-kilometer crossing is the hardest part for us, and we hope to reach the other side within 2 years.

  [Explanation] It is reported that the total length of the shield machine "Shentong" in this project is 148 meters. It is a mud-water-gas balance shield machine. It adopts the design of the atmospheric cutter head, the 10bar pressure resistance design of the whole machine, and is equipped with an emergency shelter and automatic spraying and Water curtain system, and meet the installation design of 8.4 meters wide "bow" type piece.

The cutter head of the shield machine has a diameter of 13.5 meters and a weight of 308 tons. It consists of a center block, 6 main cutter arms and 6 auxiliary cutter arms welded together.

According to the staff, this large-scale shield machine is also used for the first time in similar projects in Shanghai.

  In the past, a 6-meter-level small shield was used to make two lines to complete the operation of the subway. At present, one shield is used to excavate two tunnels at a time to improve the utilization rate of the underground space.

It is to dig a large tunnel for the simultaneous operation of the two subway lines.

  [Explanation] It is reported that the "Shentong" shield machine will complete the excavation construction of the Nangang cross-river section of the Chongming Line, and the 7.74-kilometer-long Nangang section tunnel will become the "Shanghai Rail Crossing the First Tunnel of the Yangtze River" after it is completed.
