Governor Kawakatsu and JR Tokai President Kaneko met face-to-face for the first time in two years regarding the construction of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which Shizuoka Prefecture has not approved. , asked for understanding of the construction start.

Regarding the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, while Shizuoka Prefecture does not approve the start of construction in the prefecture due to concerns about the negative impact on the environment, Governor Kawakatsu said in July, ``I am not opposed to the construction itself.'' We have agreed to develop the route from Tokyo to Nagoya, which is scheduled to open in 2027, and have joined the "Construction Promotion Reform Association" formed by the prefectures along the line.

However, after that, Governor Kawakatsu proposed a preliminary partial opening between Yamanashi and Kanagawa, which JR Tokai and Kisei Domeikai did not envisage, and this month he visited the construction site of a station under construction in Kanagawa Prefecture. At that time, he said, "There is a delay in acquiring the land for the depot, so it won't be in time for the opening of the business."

Under these circumstances, on the 13th, Governor Kawakatsu and JR Tokai President Kaneko met directly at the prefectural office for the first time in about two years.

The meeting was closed to the public for about an hour, and President Kaneko explained that there was no plan to partially open the business, and that about half of the land for the depot had already been acquired, and that the overall process would not be delayed. It means that they sought understanding for the early start of construction in the Shizuoka construction area.

Governor Kawakatsu was not convinced by this, but he indicated that he would continue to have a dialogue.

After the meeting, President Kaneko said, "There were times when the governor's remarks and our thoughts were different. I thought it was very meaningful to meet face-to-face and convey our thoughts."

Governor Kawakatsu said, ``We are doing the necessary procedures to start construction early.
