Regarding Rakuten Mobile's communication failure that occurred on the 4th, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has clarified its policy to take appropriate measures based on detailed reports from the company, saying that it falls under a serious accident under the Telecommunications Business Act.

On Rakuten Mobile, it became difficult to use mobile phone calls and data communication for about two and a half hours from 11:00 am on the 4th, affecting about 1.3 million lines nationwide.



According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, emergency calls such as 119 and 110 were not connected.

Regarding this communication failure, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Terada said at a press conference after the cabinet meeting on the 6th, "We recognize that it corresponds to a serious accident under the Telecommunications Business Act." After receiving a detailed report, he indicated that he would take appropriate measures.



In addition, regarding the provision of information to users when a failure occurs, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Terada said, ``It is very regrettable that despite the need for prompt publicity, it was very late.''
