The government concealed the flooding and said that dealers selling used cars would have their business canceled or closed if they were caught just once.

Currently, a business owner who sells a submerged car is sentenced to up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won, but there is no provision for business cancellation.

[Park Ji-Hong/Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Automobile Policy Officer: We were aware that the public's anxiety about submerged cars being distributed in the used car market while concealing whether they were submerged is growing.] The

used car salesperson who sold the car directly worked for 3 years. We plan to prevent it from happening.

In addition, the flooded car is registered in the vehicle management information system.

The 'Car 365' site, which collects car histories, will allow consumers to easily check whether they have been flooded.

If the maintenance contractor hides the fact that the vehicle has been repaired, it will be suspended for up to six months, and if the person who inspects the performance does not write down the fact that the vehicle has been submerged, it is planned to be sentenced to up to two years in prison.

The government plans to send a law containing these contents to the National Assembly within this year and put it into effect as soon as it is passed.
